Here are 10 sermons

forming part of an undated series

on

The Prodigal Son

Newton records in them

a word of testimony:

Luke prodigalb

'I have been this prodigal'

Plantane Island, Sierra Leone, where Newton sank to the depths of wretchedness

The sermons, transcribed from Newton's Notebook No. 22 in Lambeth Palace Library, MS 2939, were perhaps preached in Olney during the period 1768-1771, for which we have no diary information.

The notebook is headed 'Vol 1' and covers Luke 15:11-20.

Somewhere, there may still be a notebook of 'Vol 2', containing the sermons on Luke 15:21-32, which Newton indicated was the better part of the parable!

We would love to know if this additional notebook is located.

As the sermons go live, their no. will be highlighted.
